Several clubs have shown they have what it takes to unseat the three-time defending premiers, the Penrith Panthers, as the NRL season approaches its last few rounds of play.
The Melbourne Storm, Sydney Roosters, and Cronulla Sharks are now Penrith’s top rivals, but former representative fullback Slater thinks a different team may win the league.
Billy Slater stated on The Billy Slater Podcast that he believes The Dolphins are the competition’s “dark horse” and that they shouldn’t be written off in the 2024 Grand Final.
The prediction from Slater comes after took it to the defending premiers a fortnight ago, even though they won’t have for the remainder of the season.
“They are a team that not everyone is really noticing at the moment,” Slater stated.
“They really took it to the Panthers. I think everyone is waiting for the Dolphins to fall over, but the one thing they are getting right is the hard part of the game and the simple part of the game right and the foundation and that’s what puts pressure on you.”
