Chelsea FC have reignited their interest for RC Lens centre-forward Elye Wahi
(21) according to a report this Thursday from L’Equipe. The 21-year-old France U23 international is expected to part
ways with the Artois side after only one season in the Nord. RC Lens have made Elye Wahi their record transfer in
splashing €35m for the young centre-forward after his breakthrough 2022-2023 Ligue 1 season with Montpellier.
Under the tutelage of then-Lens manager Franck Haise, Elye Wahi has not entirely justified his transfer fee, so much so that Lens are trying to recoup their losses.
L’Equipe understands that two clubs have enquired about the feasibility of signing Elye Wahi. One of these clubs is
reportedly Chelsea FC. The London-based Premier League outfit was already pursuing a deal for the former Caen
youth product last summer. Elye Wahi notably said he didn’t want to go to Chelsea “for the sake of it.“
The outlet adds that Chelsea are yet to submit a bid as they want to know at what cost a deal for Elye Wahi could
materialize. Out of the two clubs in the race to sign ElyeWahi, Chelsea are reportedly not the most insistent.
