The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has now shared that the club’s attempts to sign a Kamara replacement will likely have them searching for someone more attacking than the Finnish international.
Given we had no goals whatsoever from our midfield quartet in 46 games last
season, anything would be an improvement this term.
Ahead of the first pre-season friendly in front of the fans on Friday evening, Leeds have three senior midfield options
in Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Rothwell, while Charlie Crew is vying for a senior breakthrough after penning a long-term deal.
Kamara was a great, reliable player for Leeds, but he wasn’t ever going to
produce in the final third, so having someone more attack-minded is ideal.
The confirmation came in quite close proximity to the arrival of Joe Rothwell
on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, but the midfielder is not seen as Kamara’s replacement.
Rothwell underlines the stance from the club to improve the output in the final
third, and someone else of that mould would be ideal.
