Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen are in the perfect mood for the summer holiday. The Dutchman believes that his team needs to examine where the recent performance has come from and what needs to happen in order to have the fastest Formula 1 vehicle back on the grid.
Verstappen discusses if Red Bull can return to the “old” RB20.
Verstappen responded to a question about if he is a little over the season in an interview with the Dutch media during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend. The Red Bull driver told GPblog among other sites, “Not done with it, but I think it’s good for us to analyse everything for a while.”
Red Bull appeared to be having trouble following the Chinese Grand Prix. Verstappen was suddenly under constant pressure from McLaren driver Lando Norris, while Sergio Perez’s lead in the World Championship standings kept slipping. Did his team make a mistake following the Formula One race in Shanghai? Naturally, I don’t want to discuss that right now, but
Red Bull has made a number of updates to the RB20 in recent months, but so far the changes have not delivered what Verstappen was hoping for. Could it be an option to go back to the pre- basics and take a different direction in developing the car from there? “No, not at the moment,” Verstappen replied firmly.
